Octavia E. Butler (1947–2006): the papers of award-winning science fiction writer Octavia E. Butler came to The Huntington in 2008.

Charles Bukowski (1920–1994): Bukowski’s widow, Linda Lee Bukowski, donated an extensive collection of manuscript and printed material in 2006. The Huntington has one of the most complete Bukowski archives anywhere in the world.

Christopher Isherwood (1904-1986): Isherwood's literary archive is part of The Huntington's collections.

William Shakespeare (1564-1616): The Huntington holds one of the most important collections of Shakespeare’s materials in the nation, including a copy of the First Folio (1623), the most reliable source for 36 of his plays. The Huntington also has two of the four quarto editions of his Hamlet.
